JUAN MATA BACKS MANCHESTER UNITED ACADEMY’S WORK

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata feels the club are doing a good job in building young players who are ready to compete at the highest level.

Young forward Marcus Rashford has been the revelation of the season since he broke into the squad in February having already scored five times in his nine appearances so far, including the winner in the Manchester derby last month.

He was also involved in yesterday's goal against Everton that saw the Red Devils beat Roberto Martinez’s side 1-0 after Anthony Martial made no mistake in the 54th minute off a Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist.

It was a goal that saw Louis van Gaal’s side grab three major points at Old Trafford and climb to fifth in the Premier League table, one point behind fourth placed Manchester City.

And the Spanish international feels the academy is doing a marvellous job at building up new talented youngsters.

“In my opinion, after the break we played better and we reached the opponent’s box with more danger”, Mata was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
“The goal came after a play I was lucky to be involved in, and with three young players taking an active part: Rashford, Fosu-Mensah and Martial.

“This is a good example of what we are trying to build: young guys with a bright present and a bright future ahead who are ready to compete at the highest level.

"The club’s Academy is doing a very good job and it is bearing fruit”
, the 27-year-old added.
